Hare Krsna. Well it seems to me that your points are very, very, very good. Niscintya’s presentation of what he went through, his personal experience of how to bring alive Srila Prabhupada’s books, I’m really happy that he took that service. And not only for myself, I have seen over these years, over these twenty-five years, so many devotees, not only here in Hawaii but around the world, that they actually have a treasure: the only Bhagavad-gita that they have is Srila Prabhupada’s. And that they were very sad that this Bhagavad-gita is not being offered to all their new friends and family, children and grandchildren coming. So it seems that it is very obvious that among Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, that they do have a very affectionate feeling [for Srila Prabhupada’s original books]. Not only that, there were so many of them kicked out of the temples by the so-called ‘pure devotees’ at the time, but also that they are trying to limit what Srila Prabhupada’s work was for so many years, and with the only hope to distribute love of God, Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission, in the way that was inspired to him by Caitanya Mahaprabhu directly, and his own spiritual master.
Now we are so fallen, all of us, including all these devotees that became part of the GBC and they were ‘gurus’ for some time and they didn’t make it, and now they still keep trying to keep up, trying to take these issues mainly in their very limited perception of what spiritual realization is. So that is my point. Jayadvaita may be a very good editor for a limited type of perception, as a normal editor for any company or books, or whatsoever. And I don’t say that under the direct instructions of Srila Prabhupada, he can be, or many can be, a very good editor under the direct guidance of a transcendental being.
Now the most problem happens when the guru leaves, and then we’re trying to fulfill our lives with different services. We’re trying to do something to offer to Srila Prabhupada, but we are so covered, not that we are transcendental or very advanced devotees, that even if we are trying to do our best, it’s not what a pure devotee can do. So just because a few details that Srila Prabhupada was explaining, that “Yes, that can be changed, that is very nice,” he was pointing out exactly those things that they may be not so nice when reading it. But any other imperfection that may appear imperfect, it may be totally perfect in a transcendental way.
So Srila Prabhupada’s books, the way that he wrote them, they are charged with a very special energy coming directly from Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And we have seen in the history of religions, and especially the Christianity, how by changing the original teachings of Jesus Christ over this centuries just to adapt them to time and circumstances, it’s been changing and changing and changing. And so sadly that we cannot have any idea of the direct teachings of Lord Jesus Christ unless we become a perfect human being or a perfect pure devotee, that it would be manifested in our heart. So we see what it has done in the Christian churches, that every time there has been something, like some changes in society that required, then there were newer and newer adaptations of the original scriptures, and the teachings were just adapted to time and circumstances.
So they’re speaking about scholars? How many times Srila Prabhupada would meet with scholars and completely defeat everything that was coming out from their mouth? So what do we care so much about how they feel, if Srila Prabhupada will point out something that will make people nervous? He spoke only the Absolute Truth, and the Absolute Truth shall be here for thousands and thousands of years. So even if we have to search for the old Srila Prabhupada devotees, and we search for each of them, to the point that we have each of them that has been initiated by Srila Prabhupada, they will sign there, and we will all, in a community of 10,000 devotees, will sue this BBT for lack of understanding that very, very special, very special important point, which is that we have to be the protectors of his work, that he offered to his Srila Gurudeva. We are his disciples; we must protect what he did. That’s all; thank you very much.
[devotees: “Jaya! Jaya! Haribol!” applause]
